ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Staff Electrical Engineer, you will lead and develop “Bus Health.” You will be a key member of the Quality team, responsible for the qualification of vehicle body controllers and systems algorithms for all future products. You will vet Controls and Electronics opportunities to aid with production yields and efficiencies. You will develop the controls and communications logic to determine vehicle health for the first-in-class zero-emission bus. This is a hands-on position working closely with the New Product Development team and strategically with the Advanced Engineering team.
The Staff Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Senior Director, Quality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to qualify customized algorithms for all sub-systems and components on the bus.
- Qualify the controls logic and functional checks in simulation as well as on the vehicle.
- Test functional requirements for the body controller, communication interface, diagnostics, and fault detection for new development vehicles.
- Evolve a deeper understanding of the entire bus and how each component works.
- Review revision control for all vehicle software throughout its lifecycle.
- Work closely with low-voltage and high-voltage design engineers to certify the communication protocol required for each sub-system and component. To include functional operational checks both in manufacturing and final vehicle release
- Participate in DFMEA sessions to identify technical risks and reduce potential failure modes in the designs.
- Participate in supporting the first vehicle of a new bus application.
- Participate in training with production support technicians and trouble-shooters on the theory of operations and controls logic behind each sub-system and component.
- Work with engineering on complex troubleshooting with the on-site production support team and/or remote troubleshooting of issues with the field service team
- Data collection and analysis using CAN tools or telematics systems to assist with troubleshooting issues in production and in the field.
- Support the Validation team by developing test plans to ensure that the design has met all the program requirements.
