The industry’s leading company in Automation systems is looking for a DCS Engineer to join our rapidly growing team.
PRIMARY TASKS:
- Builds and tests simple and/or repetitive control strategies, logic, graphics, and operator interface functions on Digital Control Systems (DCS) to general directions given by application engineers.
- Compiles and maintains project databases, configuration data, or other project information according to general directions given by application engineers. Familiar with Field control station (FCS).
- Documents project control functions according to formats specified in standard templates or by the Project Lead.
- Participates in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in a supporting role under the supervision of the Project Lead.
- Supports application engineers in the compilation of data and preparation of reports for various activities such as customer proposals, Front End Engineering Designs (FEED) studies, project design documents, FAT guides, etc.
- Is competent with the basic engineering builder functions of one or more digital control systems. Continues to expand this knowledge. Has a good working knowledge of computers, operating systems, and server technology
- Participates in project meetings and/or site visits in a supporting role as requested by the Project Lead.
- Is familiar with and follows procedures (ISO, GES, Safety, etc.) and project work methodologies as they apply to assigned tasks.
SECONDARY TASKS:
- Remains aware of overall project scope and guards against unintended scope creep.
- Has a fundamental and increasing understanding of process control concepts and techniques.
- Learns about the architecture and use of one or more control systems through training classes, mentoring of application engineers, self-study as assigned, and direct project experience.
- Participates in in-house and external training and learning activities as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Exhibits the importance of frugal and efficient time management, and reports time promptly and accurately as required by company policies.
- Works cooperatively and efficiently as a member of a project team as assigned by the Project Lead or Engineering Manager.
- Understands and follows safe work practices.
- Travels up to 70% of the time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS degree (engineering, computer science, physics, or math) or 3 years experience in process control.
- Previous experience a plus: DeltaV/TD3000/Ovation/Siemens
- The job is mostly remote but will be required to travel to various job sites.
